The first thing is that I've been having this yo yo effect with my weight for quite some time. My caloric intake is fairly constant. I'm not overeating. What I did notice over the last few days is that when I drink diet mountain dew there was a weight gain. Almost a 3 pound weight gain and when I stopped or finished the two liters I bought off, the weight started coming down. Typically, over the last six months, when I was doing chores, I'd go up and get a diet mountain dew. So, although I've not proven it scientifically, I feel pretty confident that there is a relationship.

SO NO MORE DIET SODA

I'm going to go through some of the data I have captured on weight loss and review the BMR, calories in/out and the caloric deficit and see what's going on.

One change I went back in and applied to my food calories was to add a fudge factor of 25%. My assumption is that I may be missing or nor recording my calories in correctly. So the fudge number is higher it may line up better with actual consumption.

Medical Status

Still in normal rhythm. Saw the cardiologist's PA yesterday. She couldn't confirm whether he ablated old tissue, new tissue or both. She explained that the notes hadn't been uploaded yet. Little slack. I asked about the relationship between Covid vaccine and Afib events. I'm fairly certain that each time I've had a Covid vaccine it was followed by temporary Afib events or sustained Afib events requiring a medical solution to correct (CV or ablation).

The cataract surgery is almost two weeks out and no problems noted.

Had an MRI done on Monday. Never realized the MRI scrambles the pacemaker. The back was especially painful yesterday. I walked all over Kroger's in search of Thanksgiving supplies. Then when I got into the truck, I pulled something. I had to take some Tylenol which really didn't help much.

Yesterday, while going to the cardiologist's office this panel van decides that he is going to pass a driver who had been driving driver in the left lane. I had my cruise set and I was about to pass the same slow poke. I'm about lined up with pokeys rear bumper and the panel van starts coming over. I'm about at pokeys back door and I start moving right into the breakdown lane. I beep three or four times thinking he'll back off. Nope. He keeps coming so I go completely into the breakdown lane, leaning on the horn and floor it. I cleared him and got back into the right lane. He had not given a signal. He kind of stayed back. I think he was afraid I might go nuts. I signaled to get off the highway and as he passed, I noticed his right mirror was gone. Essentially, he was driving blind. I was wrong for doing two things maybe three.

  1. No noticing the missing mirror.

  2. Driving in his blind spot. I'm usually sensitive to driving in a blind spot.

  3. Not backing off. I had this assumption that the horn would have evoked an appropriate action on his part.

Well enough for now.
