Started out pretty good. The weight was coming off. I had inserted some exercises and walking/riding into my daily routine. Late in June I had a follow-up with the cardiologist and a beta blocker was added and within a day or two the weight loss (gain) profile changed dramatically. The beta blocker does have a reported issue with causing erratic weight swings. I think I've not been really exercising as much as I should or could.
Early in July my back started acting up. I stopped hitting tennis balls by the end of July, stopped riding the bike and stopped my daily exercise routine. My back is currently at the point where if I'm standing upright, I can do most of my chores. If however, I bend over to do anything pain shoots out across my back. It gets my attention. I went to Ortho OnCall and they prescribed some steroids, exercises, PT, and a follow-up with an orthopedist. The steroids really didn't help much. I haven't started the exercises yet. PT starts next week and I see the doctor in 2 weeks. I don't think it's in the spine as the pain starts about 2/3 inches to the right of the spine.
Today I'm going to try the exercises and a short walk.
During the past few days, I've cleaned up both cars. I washed, vacuumed and detailed the inside. I also put a coat of spray wax on both cars. For the most part these cleaning exercises didn't trigger too much pain.
Assuming my calory tracking is close I'm eating too many calories without a corresponding amount of exercise.
What I've found from past experiences is that weight loss with an average of 2000 calories a day occurs fairly consistently if I burn in excess of 900 calories each day while exercising.
